"Freedom Delayed" Juneteeth Print by Burl Washington

Commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, this print is signed by artist and Texas native, Burl Washington. Burl Washington's work focuses on the many contributions of African Americans to the American West.

In his own words, "The subject matter that chosen was the overlooked imagery of the African-American in history or their life experience.  The fascination with the history of these great men and women led to the development of the Black Cowboys, Women of the West, Black Jockeys and many others.  This topic opens many doors of opportunity and conversation concerning the influence these great men and women played in this country's development."
